2020 Census

The 2020 Census is underway, and the U.S. Census Bureau is looking for governmental institutions like The Borough of Park Ridge to help us inform everyone in the United States about the importance of being counted. The invitation for you to complete the census on-line or on the phone should have reached your mailbox by now.  A paper questionnaire will be mailed to non-respondents next week.

Census data are critical to helping our nation—and the businesses and communities in it—make decisions that will fuel our future success. Census data also determine your representation in Congress and are used to redraw boundaries of congressional and state legislative districts. They inform the allocation of funding for your community’s public resources (e.g., roads, hospitals, schools, senior centers) as well as the allocation of Title I funds that provide financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. In fact, more than $675 billion in federal funding is distributed each year to communities across the country based on census data. To help your community thrive, it’s important that everyone participate in the 2020 Census.
