TRI-BORO POLICE CRUISE TO EASY VICTORY OVER TRI-BORO FIRE DEPARTMENTS
In the first time in history, Park Ridge, Montvale, and Woodcliff had their respective police departments (Finest) play the fire departments (Bravest) in a fun softball game during National Night Out. The event brought numerous spectators on a beautiful clear evening on August 4th, 2009 at the Old Mill Swim Club in Woodcliff Lake. The event was the warm up to an evening of swimming, music, and a family movie for residents of all three towns to enjoy.
The Tri-Boro fire department came out strong but stranded runners in the first inning. The police department came back in the second inning to score its first run of the game. A controversial play at home plate erupted in the third inning after Woodcliff Lake Officer Chad Malloy possibly strayed out of the base line to avoid the catcher trying to tag him at home plate.
The police department's secret weapon, a grapefruit painted white as a decoy softball, proved devastating as the FD's anchor hitter, Cookie "crusher" Eisen smacked the grapefruit into pieces on a slow sucker pitch by Tri-Boro police.
The police ended the game with an impressive shutout to claim victory with a score of 5-0. The fire department has already claimed victory in the next softball meeting and Tri-Boro police have countered by reducing donut intake for the rematch of the century. Developing....
