Chief of Police - Joseph J. Madden
Chief Joseph Madden began his law enforcement career in 1987. He was promoted to Police Chief in November of 2008. Chief Madden is a graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton. He also earned a master's degree from Seton Hall University. Throughout his career he has attended a number of prestigious law enforcement leadership classes. He attended the West Point Leadership and Command Program which was created through a collaboration of officials from the New Jersey Association of Chiefs of Police and West Point's Department of Behavior Sciences and Leadership. The team adapted the West Point model of command and leadership to the needs of law enforcment.
Chief Madden also graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy, a professional course of study for international law enforcement leaders. The course work is designed to support, promote, and enhance the personal and professional development of law enforcement leaders. The FBI National Academy began in 1935 with a class of 23, and the course is now offered twice a year with 250 officers from all over the globe attending.
Chief Madden is committed to providing exceptional police services while building partnerships throughout the community. His leadership and training will be utilized to meet the challenges of reducing crime, creating a safer community and improving the quality of life. He strives to accomplish this mission with pride, integrity, and teamwork with the officers of the Park Ridge Police Department.
