SENIOR CITIZEN, LIFELINE AND DISABILITY SERVICE

 

APPLICABILITY

 

This rate shall be applicable to the use of service for private residential purposes when the following criteria and conditions are met:

 

(1)  Senior Citizens: Customers may be at least 65 years of age; or

(2)  Lifeline: Customer must be listed on the Schedule of eligible customers established by the Commissioner of the Department of Human Services pursuant to N.J.S.A. 48: 2-29.16; or;

(3)  Disability: Customer must present a physician’s certificate verifying customer’s permanent and total disability or a copy of the Social Security Award Certificate form No. SS A-30 to demonstrate disability;

(4)  A customer who satisfies the criteria of subsection (1), (2) or (3) above and who meets all of the conditions of this subsection (4) shall be eligible for the appropriate rate.

(A)  Customer must have an income not to exceed the State of New Jersey tax-exemption qualification level from all sources, taxable and non-taxable, but not including Social Security and

(B)  Total Income of all persons who reside in customer’s household from all sources, taxable and non-taxable, including Social Security shall not exceed Six Thousand ($6,000) Dollars per annum; more than the total allowed by the State Lifeline Program.

(5)  Borough Tax Collector shall be the enforcing agent and shall annually certify those residents eligible for the Senior Citizens, Lifeline and Disability Rate; and

(6)  The rate shall be effective only upon application to and approval by the Borough Tax Collector in its sole and complete discretion as to qualification here under.

(7)  Any of the above limits and qualifications may be modified or changed by proper resolution of the Board of Public Works on a showing of good cause.

 

CHARACTER OF SERVICE

 

Alternating current, 60 cycle.  Single phase: 120 volts, 2 wire; 120/208 volts, 3 wire; 120/240 volts, 3 wire.

 

BILLING

 

Charges are computed and billed bi-monthly for service taken.

 

MONTHLY RATE

 

            Customer Charge........................................... $3.00

            Energy Charge:

                        First 500 KWH.................................. $0.08211/KWH

                        Over 500 KWH.................................. $0.14115/KWH

 

The Adjustment Clause shall be applied to all KWH supplied under this rate.

 

MINIMUM MONTHLY RATE

 

The Minimum Monthly Charge shall be an amount equal to the Customer Charge but not less than three ($3.00) dollars.

 

PAYMENT TERMS

 

Bills are due and payable when rendered.  If unpaid at the end of twenty-five (25) days, the Board of Public Works reserves the right to terminate service following suitable written notice.

 

SPECIAL PROVISIONS

 

(1)  Owners of record of property within the Borough of Park Ridge shall be required to pay a deposit.  All others shall be required to pay a deposit based upon estimated bills which would accrue for two and one-half months’ service.  The Board of Public Works shall have the right to increase the amount of a deposit if in its judgment such action is necessary.
