REPORTS OF THE GOVERNING BODY

 

Councilmember Hopper: business development - ribbon cutting 8/27 @ 52 Park Ave - new Greek restaurant opeing on Park Ave & Broadway - Green Team met
looking at program with public litter containers having advertising and separate
bins for recyclables & trash - Recreation, Day Camp concluded, was a success - Fireworks & Concert planned for Sat. Sept. 4th - self funded

 

 

 

 

Councilmember Viola: Fire Dept. responded to 44 calls in July, new wall mounted
Fire Call Monitor with computer & keyboard donated by fireman Rich Bosi, Mr. Bosi also donated a custom program to capture all fire calls & display route destination from Google Map, together with hydrant overlays & other key info.

 

 

 

 

Council President Kane: Technology Comm to meet with M&C in fall to review projects - Bd of Health on summer break for July & August, will be meeting with various groups interested in the dog & cat ordinance at their Sept. mtg, board decided not to use a subcommittee to review the matter, will do so as an entire board.

 

 

 

 

Councilmember Maughan: draft audit complete & being reviewed by Finance Comm., anticipate release mid-late Sept - Police Chief to meet with M&C in Sept.

 

 

 

 

Councilmember Maguire: PSE&G will be replacing both redundant feeds to Borough (along B'way & Pascack Rd) as a result of problems with their power lines earlier this summer causing a power outage here, estimated completion three months, no anticipated power loss during project - new twice monthly Recycling Ctr hours posted at Center, web site & in newspaper, hoped that Ctr would be able to be open every Sat. in future - Water Utility doing well at this time, no need to ration water unless required by State - Planning Bd amended the new Neighborhood Business Zone to provide for FAR bonuses & "green buildings", board received application for replacement of Krell building.

 

 

 

 

Councilmember Misciagna: reported on conversation with Bd. of Ed. President Bruno who advised construction at all three schools is on time & budget, Eastbrook Roof almost completed and solar panel installation will begin, High School on same schedule, West Ridge roof will start on schedule, window replacementw will be done during school year but after hours - Pool bathroom ADA
updates were completed on time & under budget, new policy allowing for non-resident membership has kept pool viable and with no incidents.

Mayor Ruschman commended Councilman Hopper for the success of the Day Camp which delivered to residents a self-funded program as promised.
Mayor Ruschman advised public of rededication of Woodland Gardens to be renamed in honor of longtime resident Tom Lehmann - Thurs. Aug. 19 @ 4:00pm
