Job Opening – Park Ridge Department of Public Works Laborer
The Borough of Park Ridge is seeking applicants for full-time position of Public Works Laborer. The position works under the direction of the Department of Public Works Supervisor in the Road, Vehicle Maintenance and Buildings and Grounds Departments.
Duties include the maintenance and repair of the streets, sidewalks, stormwater system, street signs, Borough parks, facilities and equipment. In this position, the employee will perform snow plowing, salting, street line painting, mowing, trimming, painting, and general maintenance of the Borough’s ball fields, parks and facilities. Additional duties include the loading and transporting of refuse and recycling from the Borough’s recycling center to the appropriate disposal facilities. Applicant must be able to perform manual labor.
Applicant must have strong communications skills and possess the ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral/written directions. Must have the ability to learn quickly from oral/written directions and from demonstrations, and work harmoniously with other public works employees. Ability to work for long periods in emergency situations. Ability to operate and skillfully use tools and equipment, and capability to learn to drive large trucks and construction equipment.
Applicants who possess a minimum of class B commercial driver’s license would be preferred; otherwise employee will be required to obtain one within a year.
